Oak Tree Animals’ Charity | Animal welfare and looking after pets (PSHE)

As Cumbria’s largest independent animal welfare charity, Oak Tree Animals’ Charity are the leading provider of education and community support regarding pets in the local area. They offer workshops to primary schools on responsible pet ownership and safety around dogs, available at a time to suit you.

These are very popular workshops carried out at schools all over the local area. Specially formulated for younger pupils, the workshops are very interactive and get the kids up and involved in games and activities to educate in a fun and memorable way. These sessions can be offered to schools in Allerdale or Copeland in person or virtually.

Oak Tree have also developed a series of online free teaching resources:

EYFS – 2 lesson plans available: Looking after a pet & Understanding pets

KS1 & KS2 – 3 lesson plans available: Daily needs of animals (5 to 7 year olds), Keeping animals safe (7 to 9 year olds) and Taking responsibility for pets (9 to 11 year olds)
