at the Primary Business Partnership

The Primary Business Partnership provides a brokerage (or ‘matchmaking’) service between primary schools and businesses in the Allerdale and Copeland areas. A dedicated team with specialised local knowledge works with the schools and business to understand their requirements and create suitable partnerships for maximum mutual benefit. Our brokerage service is fully funded so we don’t charge primary schools or businesses for the service.

About our Partners

The Primary Business Partnership (PBP) is a FREE brokerage and sign-posting service in West Cumbria which coordinates and connects primary schools and businesses to support career related learning.   Made possible through funding from OneAim and the Sellafield Ltd SiX – Social Impact Multiplied programme, the Primary Business Partnership is delivered by the team at the Centre for Leadership Performance (CforLP).

The Primary Business Partnership programme is focused on helping primary school children become more aware of the career opportunities by coordinating existing initiatives to remove barriers and supporting local businesses to connect with their future workforce. The brokerage links primary schools and employers in West Cumbria to show children opportunities and helps them to dream big and have fun thinking about their future careers. Children at primary level are already making decisions that impact their future and the PBP supports schools to identify what they need for career-related learning opportunities.

The Primary Business Partnership continues to grow with more than 170 local businesses involved and over 12,000 interactions between businesses and children.

The CforLP, a not-for-profit organisation based in Cockermouth, is celebrating 10 years of working in partnership with local businesses and schools to develop Cumbria’s leaders for today and tomorrow. A big part of that is bringing together young people and businesses to encourage children of all ages to become leaders and inspire the next generation of Cumbrians to DREAM BIG.
