Step into the boots of a farmer and a farm vet; explore key STEM topics in a real-life context and gain first-hand experience of the world of work!
In the Key Stage 1 lesson, we spend the morning with Farmer Fiona to learn how she cares for her animals; learn how she grows their food and even help her fix her broken tractor.
In the two Key Stage 2 lessons, will spend a whole day on call with Dr Claire the farm vet! We carry out a cow health inspection and learn all about their digestive system before we head out on a poo walk to hunt for the invertebrates that are an essential part of a farm’s ecosystem. Then we scan some cows to see if they are pregnant; learn how farmers care for their cows’ hooves; catch a live calving and respond to the emergencies that Dr Claire gets called out to.
And that’s not all! There are also lots of extra challenges to complete before, during and after the sessions so that your students can be truly immersed in the world of work all day long!
