Primary business partners are delighted to share an exciting opportunity from The Royal Ballet & Opera. A FREE Design CPD session will be coming to Tullie Gallery, Carlisle, on Thursday 26th February 2026.
Colleagues are warmly encouraged to share this opportunity with others in the local area who may be interested. The session is open to teachers, artists and facilitators — all are very welcome.

Build confidence in teaching design with this free, curriculum-led CPD delivered by the award-winning Royal Ballet & Opera Schools team.
Create & Design
This CPD forms part of the Royal Ballet & Opera’s Create & Design programme, an award-winning professional development programme created for teachers and facilitators.
About the day
Participants will be guided through practical techniques to support students’:
- Research skills
- Creative problem-solving
- Sketching
- Model-making and prototyping
During the session, attendees will:
- Learn easy-to-use warm-up and engagement activities that encourage creativity
- Explore the building blocks of design and how they support the Design & Technology curriculum
- Take part in practical activities that guide students from an initial creative brief through to a final design
- Be introduced to the Create & Design classroom resources
The day is led by a team of Royal Ballet & Opera designers and is ideal for:
- Class teachers or subject leads
- Teachers new to teaching design
- Teachers looking to refresh or develop their skills
