SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

Contract to Cube-it and Cumbria Traders Maths Workshops

Improving maths attainment has been identified as a key school need by primary schools across West Cumbria and as a result The Centre for Leadership Performance has developed two maths-based workshop to bring the children’s learning to life: Contract to Cube-it and Cumbria Traders.

To multiply impact and create a sustainable delivery model the Centre have recently successfully delivered two train-the-trainer workshops thanks to OneAIM and Sellafield Ltd SIX funding via the Primary Business Partnership. These sessions were specially tailored for apprentices and graduates from Sellafield Ltd and Jacobs, reinforcing our dedication to building a strong foundation for leadership from Primary to Retirement.

The training provided development opportunities for the attendees such as leadership, team building, facilitation skills, public speaking, communication whilst also boosting mathematical skills in a fun and hands-on way.  The new trainees are now ready to facilitate these sessions within our local primary schools hopefully inspiring the next generation to think about careers in STEM.

One of the attendees of the training is a shining example of the transformative power of our initiatives. A former Dream Placement student with the Centre for Leadership Performance (CforLP), Harry, went on to secure his apprenticeship with Jacobs and is now volunteering his time to inspire the next generation of primary pupils to dream big and aim high!

Thank you to OneAim and the Sellafield Ltd SiX – Social Impact Multiplied programme, for making the Primary Business Partnership possible. Your funding supports our mission to create lasting positive change in the community.

Thank you to Red Pike Education for support with these impactful workshops and Lakes College for providing us with a free venue and hosting a brilliant day!
