SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

Black History Month

October is Black History Month, a time to focus on recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions of black people to British society. The theme for 2023 is ‘Saluting our Sisters’ to help us to celebrate pioneering black women who have made positive contributions across literature, music, fashion, sport and other industries.

Cumberland Council’s School Library Service can provide book boxes for loan to help you to celebrate Black History Month.

Cumberland Council shared in their recent ‘Early Years Update’: “As an Early years Team, we are committed to learning about racism and how we can become anti-racist in our work. This is ongoing learning which takes place all year round. Here are some of the resources that we have discovered:

We also recommend that everyone looks at the Antiracist Cumbria website for lots of useful discussion, projects and resources. You can follow Antiracist Cumbria on social media as well – Anti Racist Cumbria : Anti Racist Cumbria”
