SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

WHEN I GROW UP, I WANT TO BE A……….

Children from St Bridget’s Catholic Primary School in Egremont started to think about the opportunities available to them when they leave school. Volunteers from Costain, Helen Nichols, Centre for Leadership and Performance, Sarah Glass and Claire Johnson from the Primary Business Partnership visited the school to tell the children about their career journeys.

From hotelier to travel agent to air traffic controller the volunteers shared their stories, played games and explained how some of their previous work and experiences have led them to where they are now.

The children learnt that they can ASPIRE to do whatever they want with their lives. If they work hard they can achieve their goals.

It is never too early to starting thinking about the key skills needed to do your dream job and at the end of the session some of the children got a chance to be interviewed for their prefect job. The children were all fantastic and gave some great answers although their was some discussion over whether McDonlads or KFC was the best!!!
