SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

TRAINING UP FOR THE DREAM JOB

Bill Miller from Doosan Babcock, has been delivering this great career related learning session into local primary schools and the response has been fantastic.

Last Friday afternoon, Bill kindly offered to provide some FREE training to business volunteers on how to deliver the Dream Job workshop.

The Primary Business Partnership team were joined by Alex Taylor from JAM Recruit, Stephanie Armstrong, Dept. for Work & Pensions, Courtney Thompson, Norman Donaldson and Alfie Oaten from Balfour Beatty.

Bill shared his presentation, tips on how to get the children thinking about future careers and ideas of how to develop the presentation.

It might have been Friday afternoon but there was still a crazy competitive energy in the room as the teams went head to head in building the highest tower out of LEGO. Fuelled on by jelly babies the teams also honed their creative skills and produced a scene from a film out of LEGO.

Not just good fun but a real sense of how to engage the children while developing the key employment skills of communication, team playing, decision making and keeping a cool head.

This session is aimed at year 5 & 6, if you’d like it delivered in your school get in touch.

We have a full lesson plan, presentation and tips on how to deliver this workshop if you’re interested in getting involved or want to support us in a primary school just send us an email.
