SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

St Patrick’s Primary School Dream BIG with Local Volunteers

On 23rd January 2024 the Y6 children at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School were joined by Dave Cryer, a local author, and Andrea Borwick and Mark Dobson from Nuclear Waste Services for our third Dream Big workshop of 2024!

The children learnt about the skills needed to be an Engineer, Project Manager and a Writer. They even got to find out what it’s like working at a landfill site, the opportunities within the Royal Airforce and how you can change jobs as many times as you like! Our wonderful volunteers even demonstrated how there was no such thing as “Men’s Jobs” or “Women’s Jobs” – You can do whatever YOU want to do!

Rob Reid, St Patrick’s Teacher said:

“Children see Sellafield as a job. By speaking to adults from the area, they see that Sellafield provides a huge range of opportunities and that there are opportunities far beyond as well.”

This Dream Big session was organized by Primary Business Partnership, delivered by the Centre for Leadership Performance, generously funded by OneAIM JV, and Sellafield Ltd SiX.
