30 volunteers from local business joined primary school teachers to find out how to bring science careers to life in the class room. We found out that it’s easier than we thought to identify DNA in a strawberry, demonstrate separation of chemicals in a school hall and physics principles using a collection of tennis, squash and rugby balls! We also heard some entertaining stories about how existing engineers, chemists and marine biologists first became interested in science (think Christmas present chemistry kits, overflowing baths and dismantling heirloom clocks…..).
