SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

Gardening Competition Winner

Wow.  What an amazing response we had to our Gardening Competition.  The judges met (virtually) on Friday and had a tough job trying to choose a winner.
In the end we just found it too difficult to choose just one entry that stood out.  Everyone who entered demonstrated the new skills that they had learnt but some also showed great kindness by growing flowers and/or vegetables for their neighbours, older family members, and in support of the NHS.  We also noticed how the competition had brought generations of families together and it was lovely to see how the older generations were obviously teaching our primary school children how to nurture and look after their plants.
We did, however, have to pick one overall winner and congratulations go to Eden from Dearham School.  Eden had grown a variety of different vegetables but had also grown flowers to give to all of her neighbours to cheer them up during lockdown.  Well done Eden – we will be posting your £20 Amazon voucher and the £50 voucher from The Lakes Home Centre to your school shortly.

We have also decided to award the following entries a £10 amazon voucher:

  • Kara from Ewanrigg
  • Lydia & Ben from St Matthew’s, Westnewton (to share voucher)
  • Isabella from St Bees
  • Amelia from Beckermet
  • Eva from Gosforth
  • Molly from Bridekirk
  • Mason from Netherton Infants

Some of our runners up!

In addition, we want to award Ellenbourough and Ewanrigg Infants school a £20 voucher for all of the hard work that their children had done.
We will send the vouchers out to your schools asap.
Many thanks for taking part and look out for the launch of our Cookery competition which starts this Wednesday 8th July.
