SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

FROM ROCKS TO LASERS TO WORKING IN THE MILLS AND ANALYSING HUMAN WASTE PRODUCTS……!!

From Rocks to Lasers to working in the mills and analysing human waste products…… the children at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School took part in an Aspiration session organised by the Primary Business Partnership.

Volunteers from NSG Consulting, Dominic Farrell and James Furmston-Evans, Chris Pickles from Copeland Borough Council, George Phillips from Cavendish Nuclear and Claire Johnson from the Primary Business Partnership went back to school to share their career journey’s so far.

The volunteers shared their stories, played games and explained how some of their previous work and experiences have led them to where they are now. Volunteers all had interesting career journey’s with James starting out building dry stone walls, to sandwich art (making subs in subway!) to currently working as a consultant for NSG. Chris started his working career at 16 cleaning the textile mills, gradually moving up the ladder and now works for Copeland Borough Council.

The children learnt about all the different opportunities available to them in West Cumbria and around the World. The world really is their Oyster and we want to encourage the children to DREAM BIG.
