SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

Florence Nightingale Week

Last week the Primary Buisness Partnership and their amazing volunteers have put together a series of resources and sessions for Dearham Primary, Flimby Primary School, Arlecdo Primary and Thornhill Primary. Thank you to the parents of Indie, Maddox and Lillie who sent us the pictures below on their way to school today.

‘I think Florence is Maddox’s new superhero! She was amazed that they showed her a picture of an eye. This week, both girls have said they’re going to be doctors when they’re older! ‘

Luke from Mott MacDonald was involved earlier this week and said ‘ Ian and myself were asked to be involved in the Florence Nightingale Week by the Primary Business Partnership following Mott MacDonald’s role in supporting the delivery of 4 Nightingale Hospitals across the U.K. As an organisation, we are extremely proud to be involved in such a project and thought that this would be a great opportunity to encourage and develop an awareness in design and engineering along with teamworking and a fun activity.

We recorded a session where we explained our involvement in the Nightingale Hospitals, the challenges we faced and how we overcame them. We then set a task for the students to design and build their very own Nightingale Hospital. As a final food for thought exercise, we challenged the students to a 2m spatial awareness activity.

We would like to say a big thank you to the Primary Business Partnership for inviting us to be part of this amazing programme.’

Thank you also to our other volunteers from Business Tool Box Cumbria, NHS, Sellafield and Red Pike Education.

All these amazing resources are now available to download from here.
