SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

Cumbrian Business Volunteers give school children a taste of what it’s like to work in the Hospitality & Catering industry.

Last Friday, the Primary Business Partnership shone a light on the Hospitality and Catering sector giving primary school children from Fellview, Wigton and Monkwray,Whitehaven primary schools the opportunity to question professionals from Cumbria. Business volunteers Manon Pouffle, owner and chef from Wild Zuchinins café in Cockermouth shared insider knowledge on how to run a business. Jon Fell, chef at the Green Room, Rosehill Theatre shared his passion for cooking and Amanda Graham from PhunkyFoods gave us all some advice on healthy eating.

The hour-long session allowed children to pose their questions live directly to the professionals. The volunteers shared their inspiring career stories and encouraged the children to have conversations about the things they enjoy doing, the skills they can develop and how if they work hard enough they can find a job they love doing.

If you’d like to volunteer for one of these sessions do get in touch and if you’re a primary school in Allerdale or Copeland and would like us to arrange a Live Q & A for any sector just get in touch.
