It was back to school for Sellafield employee, Darren Stables. Not so many years ago he was sat at a desk at Eaglesfield Paddle Academy and this month along with business volunteers Scott Sowerby, an apprentice working for the NDA, Tori Jones from Honister Slate Mine, Melanie Wheatley and Claire Johnson from the Primary Business Partnership arrived back in school to share their career journey so far.

From driving tanks, coaching sports, working in cafes, the volunteers shared their stories, played games and explained how some of their previous work and experiences have led them to where they are now.

Dawn Watson, head at Eaglesfield Paddle Academy described the event,

“They really enjoyed it, the children were inspired by the visitors who gave them a realistic outlook of the World of work.”

We can’t end this without mentioning Tori’s inspirational demonstration of the splits, I shall certainly be aspiring to that in the future. Thank you everyone for taking part.
