SUPPORTING CAREER RELATED LEARNING TO ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WEST CUMBRIA

A LITTLE BIT OF ASPIRATION GOES A LONG WAY

Thank you to our business volunteers Clare Macaulay from Sellafield, Kerri Allison from Reays, Aidan Harrison from Sealy who joined Melanie and Claire from the Primary Business Partnership to share their career journeys with the Aspatria Small Schools Cluster last week.

The event took place at Bothel Village Hall, children attended from the following schools, Allonby, Home St Cuthbert’s, St Michaels, St Matthews, Oughterside, Ireby and Plumbland Primary school, they learnt about the opportunities that exist both locally and further afield. The children were great and kept the volunteers on their toes with questions about their jobs, their failures and their successes.

“Even at this young age, children are beginning to explore what their futures might hold and starting to make decisions about what careers they might like to pursue. Giving them a whole array of stories to think about and real people that they can meet and question is great. We really appreciate the time that the volunteers put in to help with this”.  Melanie Wheatley, PBP
