‘Journey into the Lakes’ promotes high standards of language and literacy by combining a series of tasks that encourage the use of reading and spoken language to ensure team success, all while developing students’ love of literature through reading for enjoyment. Students will be taken through a series of fun interactive tasks that require listening, speaking and teamwork skills.

The initial tasks will require students to revisit a range of skills through reading a range of texts from maps to bus timetables, to reach their destination in the lakes – Dove Cottage in Grasmere. Students will then gain comprehension of a canonised poem through the reciprocal reading approach, before exploring the text further through dramatic performance of Wordsworth’s Daffodils.
